Welcome

SYFS is an organisation that has the main purpose of supporting and caring for vulnerable, disadvantaged and homeless young people (ages twelve years to twenty four years)  or those at risk of  disadvantage and homelessness. SYFS also supports the families of these  young people which may include foster parents, grand parents and siblings. This work provides supported accommodation, community social housing, counselling, mediation, support and the delivery of a range of programs to improve the life situation of young people and their families.

Shellharbour Communities for Children Project

Southern Youth and Family Services (SYFS) have been successful in securing funding for two years under The Shellharbour Communities for Children Facilitating Partner, run by Barnardos, and funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services under the Families and Communities Program.

New Family Mental Health Support Service

Southern Youth and Family Services are pleased to announce they have been successful in securing funding for two years to provide a Family Mental Health Support Service in Wollongong and Kiama-Shellharbour.  This service, as yet un-named, is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.

Official Opening of Southern Youth and Family (SYFS) Southern ‘Youth and Family Centre’

SYFS Youth and Family Centre at Warilla was officially opened on Friday 19th June 2015.  The ceremony was attended by over 300 community, government, business and service user representatives. Elder Uncle Gerald Brown and Richard Campbell performed a traditional smoking ceremony and welcome to country, with the assistance of other Aboriginal men.
