LOCAL COMMUNITY SUPPORTS THOSE IN NEED OVER CHRISTMAS

For most, Christmas is a time to enjoy the company of family and friends. A festive season filled with laughter, giving and of receiving gifts and of course lots of food!

Spare a thought however for the many who aren't as blessed as the majority of us. Specifically the young people and families who SYFS support who may be disconnected from or don't have family within which to celebrate. Those who may not have stable employment, permanent shelter and the income to enjoy all of the trappings that most of us enjoy.

For many, these type of holiday periods can be triggering and tough to endure, resulting in loneliness, isolation and a feeling of hopelessness and even guilt at not being able to provide gifts for family and children.

As a charitable organisation that exists to provide support to those who are vulnerable, disadvantaged and at-risk, the support of the local community is warmly welcomed and this year SYFS has been once again blessed by the generosity of businesses, community groups and even schools.

The impact of these gifts are priceless, providing smiles and hope for those who are doing it harder than most.

This Christmas SYFS would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the following organisations for their donations which were used as gifts for children, young people and families.

  1. Anglicare – donated 30 food hampers along with children’s toys
  2. Hillsong Citycare – donated 20 food hampers and 30 children’s gift packs
  3. The Fraternity Club – donated children’s toys and teenage gifts
  4. Aurora Health - South Coast Private Hospital – donated children’s toys and teenage gifts
  5. Ray White Dapto – donated children’s toys
  6. Ray White Shellharbour/Oak Flats and Lions Club – hundreds of childrens and teenage gifts
  7. Dapto High School – donated canned and non-perishable food
  8. Hot Mess Body – 50 gift packs

On behalf of SYFS and all of the young people, families and children we work with, thank you for your kindness and generosity.
